Alex and Family
So much of Alex’s story can only be told in person, about his life, what he’s been through, and what he plans on getting out of life. “I love making music and someday want to be the first native from here to stand out and stand up for the youth down here.”
Alex, pictured above with his wife Danielle and their two daughters, works with youth, and helps lead running programs on the reservation.“I believe life is told in another story from the kids and teens; that some still hold a dream but only a few shoot for their dream. A lot give up on them because of maybe a death in the family, or the hardness life brings down here.”

Alex was raised by running coach Dale Pine and has been running all his life – according to Dale, “that’s what you have to do if your dad is the coach.” Alex has run in a lot of important races. During his freshman year in high school he was in the top ten runners for the MidWest Regionals; in the FootLocker Nationals, and was the state champion in Cross Country.
When the kids on the reservation ask Alex why he runs, his reply is,
"I run for you."
